Let me be honest here and warn you all rental companies are not the same - especially when baby gear is not the primary inventory. Once you have settled on your company - order away, and order early! Here in Rhode Island, we sell out of cribs during the prime summer weeks well in advance - (think weeks and months!)
Now all you need to travel with are your suitcases, overflowing diaper bag for the inevitable delay, and a stroller to navigate the airport with if flying (or in many cases, the stroller will carry the gear while your child forms a sudden attachment to you and only you). Renting will assure you that the gear is not dust covered, mold infested, death trap from your grandmother's best friends cousin's basement. Plus, you'll have choosen a company that checks for recalls so you know the gear meets today's high safety standards. Grandma is so delighted because all items are delivered to her door (and she noticed it's all so new and clean!) and then picked up soon after you have left.
